Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Wednesday December 8th:
  • Jayson Nix - DH, Senadores de San Juan: 0-for-0, R. Nix started the game but was hit with a pitch in his first at bat in the 1st inning and was substituted in the 3rd inning the next time he came to the plate.
  • Jerad Head - RF, Gigantes de Carolina: 0-for-3, BB, K. Head continues his slide at the plate with his third straight hitless game and is now 0-for-10 over his last three games.
  • Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 1-for-4, RBI, K. Valbuena hasn't shown any of the gap power that made him so intriguing after his 2009 performance, but he has show suprising on-base skills (.353 OBP, 25-20 BB/K) even while hitting just .231 in 39 games.
  • Asdrubal Cabrera - SS, Leones del Caracas: 1-for-3, R, BB. Cabrera with a hit to extend his small hitting streak to four games. Over those four games he is hitting 7-for-16 and has raised his average to .293 through 11 games.
  • Juan Apodaca - C, Aguilas del Zulia: 0-for-0. Apodaca was a late game defensive replacement and did not record an official at bat.
