Around the Farm: December 7

Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Tuesday December 7th:
  • Jerad Head - 1B, Gigantes de Carolina: 0-for-4, 2 K. Welcome back Mr. Head. He had not played since November 30th and it looked like he had gone home, but it now looks like he had a minor injury. It was a rough night back after a week off with an 0-fer and 2 strikeouts.
  • Roberto Perez - C, Indios de Mayaguez: 1-for-3, K. Perez continues to hold his own as the everyday catcher for his Puerto Rico team going 5-for-16 (.313) with a nice 6-5 walk to strikeout ratio in 8 games.
  • Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 1-for-2, R, HR, RBI, 2 BB, K. One of Valbuena's best games out in Venezuela as he pounded out 3rd home run and reached base in three of his four plate appearances. He is still hitting just .230 in 38 games, but has displayed an exceptional 25-19 walk to strikeout ratio so far.
  • Juan Apodaca - C, Aguilas del Zulia: 0-for-4, 2 K. Apodaca's increased playing time has seen him play better of late as coming into last night's game he had a small three game hitting streak going 5-for-11 at the plate.
  • Ezequiel Carrera - LF, Navegantes del Magallanes: 2-for-4, R, K. Tough night in the field for Carrera as his two hit night was not able to offset the two errors he had in the outfield with a throwing error and fielding error.
