Around the Farm: December 5

(Photo: MiLB)
Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Sunday December 5th:
  • Juan Apodaca - C, Aguilas del Zulia: 3-for-4, R, RBI. A surprising offensive outburst for Apodaca with his first three hit night in limited action out in Venezuela. Hitting .261/.320/.326 in 16 games. Will be the backup catcher next year at Double-A Akron or Triple-A Columbus.
  • Roberto Perez - C, Indios de Mayaguez: 0-for-2, BB, K. Perez takes the collar, but draws a walk and now has 5 walks in 6 games out in Puerto Rico. Off to a solid start at the plate (4-for-11) with a 5-3 walk to strikeout ratio.
  • Jayson Nix - 3B, Senadores de San Juan: 1-for-4, R, RBI, BB, K. Nix back at third base after a night off as the DH, and responds with an errorless game. At the plate he drove in his first run in 5 games out in Puerto Rico though is still just 2-for-20 at the plate.
  • Ezequiel Carrera - CF, Navegantes del Magallanes: 1-for-5, RBI. Carrera's line continues to plummet the more he plays out in Venezuela as he is now hitting just .185/.371/.185 in his last 10 games. Still shows absolutely no power, but the one positive remains an ability to get on base via the walk.
  • Asdrubal Cabrera - SS, Leones del Caracas: 2-for-5, R, RBI. Cabrera's first multi-hit game in nine games played so far out in Venezuela.
