Around the Farm: December 4

Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Saturday December 4th:

Ezequiel Carrera - CF, Navegantes del Magallanes: 0-for-3, 2 BB, 2 K. The Indians versatile, scrappy outfielder continues to find ways to get on base without getting a hit as he drew 2 walks on the night. In 33 games out in Venezuela he is only hitting .246 but because of a very good 17-14 walk to strikeout ratio he is getting on base at a .363 clip.
Jayson Nix - DH, Senadores de San Juan: 0-for-3, 2 K. Nix got a night off from the playing the field, but responded with another lackluster night at the plate. He is now just 1-for-16 so far in his first four games in Venezuela.
Asdrubal Cabrera - SS, Leones del Caracas: 1-for-4, R, BB. Cabrera continues to get everyday at bats at shortstop out in Venezuela and is still off to a sluggish start now just 6-for-29 in 8 games (.207).
Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 0-for-4. Valbuena continues to get everyday at bats even though he is only hitting .226/.345/.331 in 37 games. The one big positive for him in winter ball continues to be a nice 23-18 walk to strikeout ratio.
Juan Apodaca - C, Aguilas del Zulia: 1-for-4, R, 2 K. Apodaca is now playing about every other day out in Venezuela. In his last 6 games he is just 3-for-18 at the plate.
