Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Thursday December 9th:
  • Jerad Head - RF, Gigantes de Carolina: 0-for-0. Head was hit by a pitch in his first at bat and was taken out of the game. He has now been hit by pitches an amazing 10 times in 32 games out in Puerto Rico after being hit with just 7 pitches in 87 games over the course of the 2010 season.
  • Ezequiel Carrera - LF, Navegantes del Magallanes: 1-for-2. Carerra was pinch hit for in the 8th inning after he had to be taken out, likely from the hit by pitch earlier in the game.
  • Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 0-for-3, 2 BB, K. Valbuena was held hitless, but once again finds a way to get on base with two walks. Now 27 walks and 21 strikeouts in 40 games (133 at bats).
  • Asdrubal Cabrera - SS, Leones del Caracas: 2-for-5, 2 R, 2B, RBI, K. Cabrera has now hit in 5 straight games and over that stretch is 9-for-21 at the plate with 3 walks. After a slow start, in 12 games he is now hitting .304/.360/.370.

Was Head hit in the head?

He seems pretty tough. I wouldn't mind seeing him get some MLB AB's someday.

...and he's not Mickey Hall.
