Around the Farm: AFL 10/10

Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in Instructional League, advanced Instructional League (AZPL), the Arizona Fall League (AFL), and the Caribbean Leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Here is the recap from yesterday’s action out in the AFL. There were no Instructs or AZPL games on Sunday 10/9.

Arizona Fall League: October 11th

• Jesus Aguilar (1B): 3-for-5, R, K. It is early and the sample size is extremely small, but wow, what is there not to like so far with Aguilar’s performance in the AFL? In 5 games he is hitting .421 with 2 HR, 6 RBI and 1.416 OPS. The most impressive number may be his 3 walks and 4 strikeouts in 19 at bats.
• Roberto Perez (DH): 0-for-2, R, RBI, 2 BB, K. Perez is now just 1-for-10 in 3 games in the AFL, but he has 3 walks and has 4 RBI in 3 games played.
• Preston Guilmet (RP): 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K. Guilmet did not allow a run, but he has now allowed 5 hits and 3 walks in his 2.2 innings of work in the AFL so far.
• Cory Burns (RP): 2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R/ER, 0 BB, 0 K. Burns allows his first run in 3.0 innings so far in the AFL. He also has yet to record a walk or strikeout in two appearances.
