Around the Farm: October 27

Roberto Perez
Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) and the Caribbean Leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Here is the rundown of what Indians players in fall and winter ball did yesterday. The Dominican Winter League was off on Thursday as no games were scheduled and no Indians players played in the games on Thursday in Venezuela.

Arizona Fall League
  • Chad Huffman (1B): 2-for-4, R, BB. Huffman breaks a 6-game 2-for-23 slump by getting on base three times. After walking with one out in the bottom of the 10th he was taken out for a pinch hitter.
  • Jesus Aguilar (1B): 0-for-0. Aguilar did not start and was a late game defensive replacement after Huffman was lifted for a pinch runner.
  • Roberto Perez (C): 4-for-5, R, 2B, HR, RBI. Wow, that’s just what the doctor ordered for Perez. He came into the game just 3-for-27 but busted out of his slump with arguably his best game of 2011.
  • Preston Guilmet (RP): 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Guilmet is on sort of a mini-roll with two straight excellent outings going 3.1 shutout innings and allowing 2 hits, 0 walks, and with 2 strikeouts.
