Around the Farm: October 24

Preston Guilmet
Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) and the Caribbean Leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Here is the rundown of what Indians players in fall and winter ball did yesterday. Both the Dominican Winter League and Venezuelan Winter League were off on Monday with no scheduled games.

Arizona Fall League
  • Chad Huffman (1B): 0-for-3, RBI, 2 BB. Huffman only has 4 hits in 27 at bats so far this fall, but the one encouraging thing in the early going is his 6 walks and only 3 strikeouts. Also it appears Jesus Aguilar has left the AFL and will soon join his teammates in Venezuela.
  • Roberto Perez (C): 0-for-1, R, 3 BB. Like Huffman, Perez is struggling at the plate in the early going this fall going 3-for-27 but now has 8 walks which help boost his .111 batting average to a .306 on-base percentage.
  • Preston Guilmet (RP): 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. That’s more like it for Guilmet. He’s been pounded for 18 hits and 12 runs (10 earned) and even 7 walks in just 9.0 innings this fall, so this was a much needed good outing.
