Around the Farm: October 18

Jesus Aguilar
Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) and the Caribbean Leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Here is the rundown of what Indians players in fall and winter ball did yesterday:

Arizona Fall League
  • Jesus Aguilar (1B): 2-for-5, 2 R, 2 2B, RBI, BB, K. Another good day for Aguilar with 2 extra base hits. His time in the AFL is coming to a close soon as he will be going out to the Dominican Republic to play winter ball, but what a strong showing this fall for the rising Indians prospect.
  • Tyler Sturdevant (RP): 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R/ER, 2 BB, 0 K. Tough outing for Sturdevant who came on in the 9th inning to protect a one run lead and blew the save.
Dominican Winter League
  • Jerad Head (CF, Tigres del Licey): 0-for-4, 2 K. Tough game and tough day all around for Head who learned he was outrighted off the 40-man roster.
  • Juan Diaz (SS, Estrellas de Oriente): 0-for-3, K. Diaz’s second game in the DWL and still searching for that first hit in 7 plate appearances.
Venezuelan Winter League
  • Luis Valbuena (2B, Cardenales de Lara): 1-for-3, R, 3B, BB, K. A strong winter ball showing may not be enough to save Valbuena’s spot on the 40-man roster this offseason.
