Note: Roth was 12-3 with a 1.10 ERA this year for the Gamecocks. He made 17 appearances, 16 of them starts. In 114 2/3 innings he gave up 89 hits, 14 ER and 29 BB, while striking out 93. He made a start four days ago against Georgia Southern, going seven innings and giving up two hits in getting the win. He was a star for the Gamecocks when they won last season's College World Series. He started the clinching game last season and is clearly their ace.

Jeff Ellis: Michael Roth is a left handed pitcher from South Carolina. Yesterday in the PG Crosschecker chats his name was one people kept bringing up as people were surprised by his fall. He was a finalist for the Golden Spikes award this year given to the best college baseball player each year. He had the lowest ERA in the SEC, which is the best college baseball conference. He allowed 14 earned runs in 107 Innings. He was an integral part of last year’s college World Series winning team, and knows what it’s like to pitch under pressure. He does not have overwhelming stuff, but knows how to pitch. He spots his pitches well. His upside is more than likely a Tomlin like lefty. It will be interesting to see if he signs, as his stuff is not likely to get better and he can’t pitch any better next year.
