2011 Draft Signings: Frazar signs, Embree could be close

Corey Embree
The Indians have signed 27th round pick infielder Evan Frazar. He should be assigned to rookie level Arizona or short season Single-A Mahoning Valley in the coming days.

The Indians also appear close to signing 47th round pick outfielder Corey Embree. Right now he is in wait-and-see mode as he sits tightly waiting for the Indians to make a contract offer to him. The Indians have supposedly told him that with so many players returning to rookie ball this year that they plan to use the first few weeks to evaluate them before bringing in new players. The Indians have expressed a sincere interest in signing him, and the interest appears mutual from Embree. He said he “expects to sign a professional contract with the Indians [this] week and get assigned to their Rookie League affiliate in Goodyear, Ariz., by the middle of next month.” He is currently playing summer ball with the Moberly American Legion team and in four games has nine hits, which includes two doubles, two triples, and two homers.

The Indians also signed another undrafted free agent right-handed pitcher Will Krasne out of Stanford and have assigned him to short season Single-A Mahoning Valley.
