Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday's game.
- Ezequiel Carrera - CF, Columbus: 3-5, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB, K. Carrera deserves to be in Cleveland over Kearns, no doubt about it.
- Jason Kipnis - 2B, Columbus: 1-4, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K. He may not have flashy numbers in his past ten games, but he's been a solid and consistent producer.
- Luis Valbuena - SS, Columbus: 2-4, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB. "Baby Luis" is really making a case to take Adam Everett's utility job, though Jason Donald may not be far behind.
- Jordan Henry - CF, Akron: 3-4, BB. Hitting .212 in his past ten games, Henry needed to break out of the slump and did just that.
- Matt Packer - SP, Akron: 5.1 IP, 3 H, 3 ER/R, 2 BB, 7 K. (L, 2-8) A bit more of an encouraging start from Packer who has really struggled as of late. His command improved, though he was still stuck with the loss.
- Jordan Smith - 3B, Mahoning Valley: 2-5, 2 RBI, BB. His first professional game and he forces the game winning walk in extra innings. Well done, Jordan!
- Todd Hankins - 2B, Mahoning Valley: 3-5, R. Hitting .316 out of the gate and just 20 years old; pretty impressive.
- Joseph Colon - SP, Mahoning Valley: 5 IP, H, 2 BB, 4 K. Colon showed better command and poise on the mound than his Opening Day start.
- Kyle Petter - RP, Mahoning Valley: 2.1 IP, 2 H, BB, 3 K. (W, 1-0) Petter has been lights out and the shut down reliever in the Mahoning Valley bullpen.
