Around the Farm: August 18

Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday's game.

Beau Mills - 1B, Columbus: 2-3, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI, BB.

While not quite hitting as hot as he was in Akron, he's still been a force to recon with in the Clipper lineup. After coming off a few disappointing seasons, Mills hasn't disappointed this season since being activated off the disabled list in May. Between Akron and Columbus, he's hitting .293 with 15 HR and 60 RBI. While there's no chance you'll see him in Cleveland by year's end, he's making a strong case that he's still a prospect to watch going forward.

• Tim Fedroff - CF, Columbus: 2-4, R, BB. A typical night for Fedroff who thrives off of consistency. While most fans see Fedroff as nothing more than a fourth outfielder in the future, he can be a decent one at that.
• Zach McAllister - SP, Columbus: (W, 10-3) 7 IP, 7 H, 4 ER/R, BB, 5 K. "Z Mac" will likely stay in Columbus until Columbus finishes there season, but with good reason. With the playoffs right around the corner, there's no need to put him on a big league roster. He's been one of the anchors of the Clippers pitching staff that has been solid all year long.
• Nick Hagadone - RP, Columbus: IP, H, ER/R, BB, 3 K, HR. One name that has been popping up more and more is that of Nick Hagadone. In my opinion, Zach Putnam and Josh Judy will get called up in September before Hagadone, who is still struggling to put together consistent solid outings.
• Josh Judy - CP, Columbus: (S, 21) IP, H, K. Speaking of Judy, he's pitched for shut out appearances in a row and is all but assured a spot on Cleveland's roster when it expands.
• Ben Copeland- CF, Akron: 3-5, K. I continue to say how much of a nice surprise Copeland has been and I would certainly hope he stays in the organization at year's end.
• Chun Chen - C, Akron: 1-4, RBI, K. For an Akron lineup that lacks stars, Chen has been one of the only ones to show that. Chen has made some progress this year, both at the plate and behind the plate, though a stats sheet may not show that. He still has a long way to go and he still may end up at first base before his career is all said and done.
• Austin Adams - SP, Akron: (L, 9-10) 7 IP, 9 H, 3 ER/4 R, 9 K, HR. Adams has been rising up our prospect rankings lately, though I'm still not convinced. To me, he still projects as a 7th inning reliever, though some see him as a middle of the rotation starter. If he finishes the season strong, there's a high probability he'll rank in the top ten to start next year.
• Rob Bryson - RP, Akron: 2 IP, 2 H, BB, 3 K. Bryson seems to be the forgotten man with how much depth we have in the 'pen.
• Jordan Casas - RF, Kinston: 2-5, R, 2B, 3 RBI. For a lineup in Kinston that lacks stars, Casas has made up for that and has been a great surprise this year.
• Jeremie Tice - 1B, Kinston: 2-4, R, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K. Hitting .314 in his past ten games, Tice has been a great bat to have who has consistently produced this season.
• Luigi Rodriguez - CF, Lake County: 2-4, BB, SB. One player I'm higher on than most is Luigi Rodriguez. Truth be told, I'm actually a bit higher on Luigi than I am LeVon Washington at this point. They both still have a lot to prove, however.
• Alex Monsalve - C, Lake County: 0-5, K. Hitting just .132 in his past ten games, Monsalve is in dire need of a multi-hit game to break out of his slump.
• Kyle Blair - RP, Lake County: 2 IP, H, BB, 3 K. Blair has been extremely disappointing, to say the least. Hoping to improve his command out of the 'pen, it's been somewhat successful thus far.
• Bryson Myles - RF, Mahoning Valley: 1-5, 2B, K. Myles is another guy to keep an eye on. He has great speed and quickness on the base paths and has a strong arm in right field. If he can find some patience at the plate, he can develop into a great prospect.
• Jordan Smith - 3B, Mahoning Valley: 2-3, 2 R, 2B, 2 BB. What more can you say about Jordan Smith? The guy can flat out hit.
• Enosil Tejada - CP, Mahoning Valley: IP, 2 K. I've been incredibly impressed with Tejada as a reliever. He has good bite to his fastball and misses a lot of bats.
