Howard, Peters pitching together in Connie Mack World Series

Indians 2nd round pick right-handed pitcher Dillon Howard and 20th round pick left-hander Dillon Peters are both teammates playing on the Midland Redskins team participating in the Connie Mack World Series. Both pitched in the opening game of the series on Saturday, and with the win their team earned a second round bye and will play again tomorrow. Peters started the game and pitched 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs and had 8 strikeouts, and then Howard relieved him pitching the final 3.1 innings and did not allow a run or hit and had a walk. The series runs from August 5th to 12th, and both are expected to pitch again later in the series.

With both pitching it shows that the Indians do not have any kind of verbal agreement with either pitcher.  There are a lot of "unannounced" signings around baseball as teams await MLB to approve signings.  Most of these unannounced deals are well overslot so teams have verbal agreements with the players on a contract until it is officially announced by the commissioner's office.  Players who have verbal agreements typically are shut down and do not pitch in any summer ball, so with that in mind it looks like both Howard and Peters are going through the negotiation process.  The signing deadline is a week from today, and in the end Howard is expected to sign though Peters is iffy.

So I was just thinking, a week to go till the signing deadline. I wonder if Tony has picked up any rumblings concerning the draftees....Lo and Behold: 2 signings and a nice article on 2 big upside guys.
Just a thought, but with the Tribe trading White and Pomeranz, I have a feeling they'll go the extra mile to get Peters.
Are there any other later round draftees you see signing, Tony?
Thanks as always for the great work.

As for later round guys, my guess would be Cole Pitts and Brian Ruiz.
