In the 11th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians select SS Hunter Jones out of Lakewood High School (CA).

Jeff Ellis: Last year it was Arizona, this year it's California. Every year the Tribe seems to pick one state and keeping going back to it, and they did it again by selecting Hunter Jones. Hunter Jones is the son of former big leaguer Tracy Jones. He played SS in high school, but with his size and speed CF seems like his mostly likely pro position. Jones brings to the table a lot of speed, which has been another target for the Tribe in this draft. He would be the 4th player in this draft who has potential plus speed on the bases, which signifies to me a bit of a change in philosophy from some previous drafts. I don’t know how hard of a sign he will be, being the son of a major leaguer can typically make it harder since he doesn’t need the money. I for one am intrigued though by the addition of another athlete who was a first team all American in a state as deep as California. That tells me he could be an athlete to watch down the road.
