2010 Indians 13th Round Pick: RHP Michael Goodnight

In the 13th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians have selected RHP Michael Goodnight out of the University of Houston.

Height: 6'4" Weight: 225 DOB: 06/10/1989 Bats: Right Throws: Right

Rank:
Baseball America: 171

NL Scout's Take: "Goodnight is a physical guy with arm strength. His slider is much better than the curveball currently. His best outing was at the Minute Maid Classic against Texas, but he never duplicated that. At times he lacks the touch and feel for pitching."

Jeff Ellis: Michael Goodnight is a player the Indians must love. They drafted him out of high school back in 2008, and they took the risk of drafting him here as a draft eligible sophomore. Goodnight was actually a two sport athlete in high school and could have gone on to play college football, but he chose to give it up to focus on baseball. The kid has the body and the plus fastball that sits in the 92-94 range that teams love, but the question is consistency and working on his secondary pitches. The Tribe must feel like they see a real gem here and they are trying to lock him up this time. Goodnight is a very nice upside pick this late, his arm could make him a wonderful addition to the Tribe and I am sure they think they can fix the consistency issues. On top of everything else what better name for a dominating fastball pitcher then Goodnight.

I really really really hope he becomes a dominant closer with a name like Goodnight it just seems to fit.... or is that just me?

Not just you...I was thinking the SAME thing, before I saw your post. And we got a Cannon to play 3B!
