2011 Indians 24th Round Pick: 3B Taylor Sparks

Photo: Area Code Games
In the 24th round of the 2011 Draft the Indians select third baseman Taylor Sparks out of St. John Bosco High School (CA).

Bats: Right, Throws: Right, Height: 6'3", Weight: 205, Date of Birth: 04/03/1993

Ranks:

Baseball America: 131
Perfect Game: 298

Jeff Ellis: Taylor Sparks is a name prep player from California. He was listed as high as 131 in BA's best players in the draft. He is a good athlete for his size at 6'3" which continues the theme by the Indians to take athletes. He is considered to have plus power and plus bat speed, along with nice speed for his size which is considered above average speed overall. He is committed to UC Irvine, but is one of the names to watch this late. The Tribe have been a team that is always looking for right handed power and that is exactly what Sparks provides. It would require going over slot to get him, but the question becomes if the Tribe is willing and whether they can afford to. I will say this, if Lindor does fail to sign I guarantee that Sparks signs, but we can hope we get them both.
