Note: Maloof is a redshirt sophomore who made 28 appearances and had a bloated 7.16 ERA this year. He was their closer, and had 18 saves. He walked 18 and struck out 25 in 27 2/3. Was redshirted in 2010 because he caught the swine flu.

Jeff Ellis: Tyler Maloof is a righty from the University of Georgia. He is actually a red shirt sophomore, and this was the first year he saw extended action as he pitched in only three games before the year. This is our second player from Georgia and it seems the Georgia area scout has some say today. He was not a player who was hugely thought of out of high school as he didn’t crack PG Crosscheckers Top 1000 as a player. He was actually listed as a better hitter then pitcher then. He is another pen arm for the Tribe, and I believe this makes four or five thus far. This was his first season as a closer and he was 11 for 11 to start the year before a few rough outings that saw his ERA run to over seven. I have to believe that this is a player they won’t sign. Maloof has to feel that he can prove more yet and he has two more years to do it. The Indians must like something they saw in his ability to close games in one of the toughest conferences in baseball.
