2011 Indians 40th Round Pick: SS Matt Eureste

Photo: St. Puis HS
In the 40th round of the 2011 Draft the Indians select shortstop Matt Eureste out of St. Puis X High School (TX).

Bats: Left, Throws: Right, Height: 6'1", Weight: 175, Date of Birth: 07/29/1993

Note: Eureste is a "polished middle infielder with speed and good overall baseball skills. Blue-collared type player. Plays the game hard. Great hands and footwork on the defensive side. Gap to gap hitter that can run with the best of them."

Jeff Ellis: Matt Eureste is shortstop from the Texas prep ranks. He is committed to attend Sam Houston State. He hit .415 this year for St. Pius X and was a first team all state selection this past season. He is an excellent athlete who was also an all state defensive back. His team was a state contender for the Division One title in Texas, where you have to have a top level athlete playing defense back. The Indians again get an athlete and an up the middle player. He has plus speed, and good footwork. These skills also helped make him an all state defensive back. A very interesting athlete drafted this late for the Tribe, and a player who could end up being a steal this late just based on his athletic abilities.
